  2. ASCII Codes
  3.   ASCII codes are the actual letters or codes that can be
  4.   seen on the screen. Most of these letters can be entered  
  5.   directly from you keyboard.  Some codes (like the ESC
  6.   key) are entered using their decimal equivalent.
  7.   For example, to enter an ESC, hold down the ALT key and
  8.   enter its decimal value of 027 then release the Alt key.  
  9.   You will see a '
  10. ', its screen character.
  11.   Most printers use an ESC to start a printer code.  For
  12.   example:

  16.   You can toggle between the ASCII and DECIMAL value using  
  17.   the F10 key.

  20. What to Enter
  21.   The codes are unique for each printer and will control
  22.   the different features it offers.  They are normally
  23.   listed in the user manual for each printer.
  24. Note that
  25.   not all printers support all features.  If you find a
  26.   code that isn't listed, look for a synonym.
  27.   For example,  some printers refer to EMPHASIZED while
  28.   others call it BOLD.  Both mean the same.
  29.   If you can not find a printer code for a feature,
  30.   leaving it blank will usually work just fine.

  34. Decimal Codes
  35.   Decimal codes are the decimal equivalent to the ASCII
  36.   codes.  Any code (including the NULL character) can be
  37.   entered using its decimal code.  Each code is a number
  38.   between 0 and 255.  Leading zeros don't need to be
  39.   entered.  Each code must be seperated from the next with  
  40.   a space.

  45.   You can toggle between DECIMAL and ASCII modes by
  46.   using the F10 key.
  47.  Press RETURN for help menu 
  48.  FILE NAME:  Enter any valid file name.  The report
  49. will be saved with that name.
  50.  Warning: If the file already exists, it will be
  51. replaced.
  52. HOW MANY COPIES?
  53.   Enter the number of copies to be printed 
  54.   for this report.
  55.   How many copies? Enter the number of copies to be printed  
  56. for this report.
  57.   Printer:  Select the printer and port to be used for this  
  58. report.  The choices are listed to the right.  Use
  59. the arrow keys to choose one.  If you are unsure,
  60. use LPT1.
  61.   Setup Printer/Port: Setup or change the Printer and/or
  62. port assignment.

  109. : Sets your printer pitch to 17 cpi.  Also called COMPRESSED.
  110.   Double Width: Prints characters at a double-width.
  111.   Super-script: Prints characters as a super-script.
  112.   Sub-script  : Prints characters as a sub-script.
  113.   Enhanced
  114. : Also called DOUBLE STRKE.  Characters are darker than normal. 
  115.   Emphasized  : Also called BOLD.  Characters are darkest.
  116.   Italics
  117. : Code to print in Italics style.
  118.   Underline
  119. : Code to underline characters.
  120.   Utility
  121. : Draft mode.
  122.   NLQ
  123.      : Prints your report in Letter or Near Letter Quality.
  124.   High Speed  : High Speed draft quality print.
  125.   Char. set
  126. : Used to switch the character set to a differt one.  Used
  127. mostly for foriegn language and scientific sets.
  128.   User Defined: Custom defined control strings.
  129. Note that not all printers support all the above features.

  148. PRINTER ERROR
  149.   The printer is not responding to the computer.
  150.   Possible reasons include:
  151. 1.  Printer turned off
  152. 2.  Printer unplugged
  153. 3.  Out of paper
  154. 4.  "On-line" light is not light.
  155. 5.  Cable is loose between the printer and
  156. the computer.
  157.   Check the above.  Turn the printer off then
  158.   back on and retry.
  159. You may select to view the report on the screen, print
  160. on the printer or save it to a file.  Use the arrow keys 
  161. to move to your selection and press the ENTER key.
  162. Screen: This opens a window and allows you to view the
  163. report on the screen.
  164. Printer:  This starts the report printing  on the
  165. printer.  You may press the ESC key during printing
  166. to cancel at any time.
  167. Disk:  This will save the report to a disk file.
